Thailand – Krabi
Thailand simply had to make the list of romantic destinations for couples. The food, beautiful beaches, and simply the laid back vibe make it perfect for a couple to relax in paradise. Our recommendation is Krabi. However, if you are looking for somewhere a little more remote and even more romantic, check out our Hidden Gems in Thailand post!
Krabi has plenty to do, and of course lots of beaches to enjoy relaxing on together. It’s also a great spot to enjoy the sunset on the beach in the evening with a cocktail or beer. Railay Beach is just a 15 minute boat ride away for a perfect romantic day trip. We also really enjoyed kayaking around the limestone cliffs together and finding small hidden beaches. Krabi has plenty of food options whether you want to explore a street market together or enjoy dinner in a fancy restaurant, you will be spoilt for choice!
Poland – Wroclaw
If you prefer a city break, then Wroclaw in Poland is going to be the one for your next couple’s escape. The city is a perfect size to enjoy exploring by foot and taking in its beauty. It’s also an affordable option for Europe.
The old town and market square is one of the best we have ever seen, it feels like stepping back in time. There are also lots of restaurants and bars you can enjoy on the square. You can walk along the river and explore the stunning cathedral too. The city also has many little gnome statues throughout, which are fun to see as you are walking around together.

Albania – Tirana
Following on with affordable city breaks, Tirana in Albania is another one of our romantic destinations for couples . We had such a good time in Tirana exploring this beautiful city together.
Tirana is very enjoyable to walk around and simply forget about time. There’s plenty of places to stop off for some delicious food and a drink. However, it also has lots to do for couples! One of our favourite attractions was the Dajti Ekspres – a long cable car which takes you to the top of Dajti Mountain. Tirana is also less than an hour drive to the beach allowing you to add some beach time onto your city break.
Portugal – Algarve
The Algarve in Portugal offers so much, and we would recommend staying around Lagos to benefit from charming old towns, beautiful beaches and coves, and plenty of walks in nature.
We recently stayed in Lagos and rented a scooter to explore the Algarve together. We have a Lagos Guide Here for you. This is a great way to get around as a couple and it allows you to see so much more. We also loved walking along the Fisherman’s Trail, and enjoying the stunning views of Ponta da Piedade.
Top Tip – It’s also a great option to head to slightly out of season to enjoy good weather and less crowds.

Mexico – Cancun / Playa del Carmen
Mexico is a popular choice and we are seeing more couples head to Cancun or Playa del Carmen for a holiday or even their honeymoon. It’s another destination which has a bit of everything. Stunning beaches, great local food, pretty towns, and great nightlife.
There is also a lot to do from here, you can easily reach many beautiful cenotes, take a day trip to Chichen Itza, or find a boat tour together. Mexico is definitely on our list to go back to!
Indonesia – Bali
We were really impressed with Bali, and had such a relaxed time exploring the beaches, nearby Islands and areas inland such as Ubud. We really understand why it’s on so many couple’s bucket lists, and we had to include it on our list of romantic destinations for couples.
One of our favourite memories was having a quiet dinner over the rice fields in Ubud, while watching the sunset together. The food, the view, and the atmosphere were all perfect.

North Macedonia – Ohrid
We fell in love with Ohrid, and after going twice already it’s still a destination on our list to go back to again. We loved exploring the quiet picturesque streets of this charming little town situated on a beautiful lake. It really doesn’t get the attention it deserves.
Ohrid has so much to offer, from history and culture to stunning nature. We really recommend coming to see this little gem together, before it starts getting too popular with tourists. If you are interested we have a full post on North Macedonia Here.
Scotland – Highlands
The Scottish highlands are definitely romantic. We went over the middle of winter, and the snowy weather made it even more so. Charming castles, little towns, beautiful lochs between rolling hills, it’s truly magical.
We stayed in Inverness, which was a great base to explore the breathtaking nature of the Scottish Highlands, and it’s also easy to reach the Isle of Skye from. If you are looking for a fairytale location to switch off together, this is the place for you.

England – Cotswolds
So many tourists coming to England just visit London. We really recommend escaping the big city and heading to the Cotswolds. There’s a great mix of charming small English towns and villages, and stunning nature to explore together, all situated in rolling hills.
The Cotswold Way is a 100 mile trail running through the Cotswolds if you fancy walking together through this charming part of England. One place we recommend is Bourton-on-the-Water, just note it will get busy there on a sunny day!
Italy – Lake Garda
We were lucky enough to spend a summer working around Lake Garda. The stunning landscape, Italian food, and relaxed atmosphere made it a dream. You are guaranteed a great time together in Italy.
There’s so much to explore around Lake Garda, some of our favourite places were Lazise, a charming town on the South East of the lake, and of course, Sirmione with the spectacular Castello Scaligero di Sirmione.
We would also recommend looking at staying on one of the many campsites around Lake Garda to fully immerse yourself in nature, and still offer easy access to the water and nearby towns.

We hope you have enjoyed reading our recommendations for the best romantic destinations for couples. We’ve included somewhere for every type of couple, so let us know where you would pick!
